Integrating Handshake with Suitable: Overview

The integration between Handshake and Suitable allows institutions to automate the flow of event and attendance data, enabling a more seamless tracking of student engagement across platforms.

Keep in mind…

• To begin the process, please contact your representative from Suitable's Client Success Team if you would like to add Handshake to your subscription.
• You or a Handshake Administrator must have access to a Handshake account with Amazon S3 and Scheduled Reporting Access.
  • These permissions allow for the automated and secure delivery of data from Handshake to Suitable via Amazon S3.
• Institutions must work directly with their Solutions Success Team at Suitable for this integration. 
  
   

What the Integration Supports

The Handshake integration with Suitable is designed to support four primary data feeds:

1. Event Import Reports
   This report imports events from Handshake into Suitable. By default, all events are included. However, if your institution prefers to limit the types of events being pulled in, a custom keyword filter or other filter can be applied.

• In the case of a unique keyword or label - established during setup with the Solutions Success Team - would need to be included in the event description field or the institution labels field in Handshake. Only events containing this keyword will be imported into Suitable.

2. Career Fair Import Reports
   This report brings in Career Fairs Events, including descriptions, types, and scheduled dates and times. This allows institutions to showcase and track career fair offerings within Suitable.
   • A custom keyword, label or other filter can also be applied for Career Fairs.
3. Event and Career Fair Attendance Reports
   This feed captures student attendance at Handshake events, syncing check-in data directly with Suitable and applying appropriate credit to students within Suitable. Filters on the report ensure that only active students who have officially checked in are reported. 

Data Delivery and Frequency

All data transfers from Handshake to Suitable are facilitated through Amazon S3 buckets. Depending on the type of report, data is typically scheduled to transfer either daily or monthly, depending on the use case.

• Event and Attendance Reports: Scheduled daily
• Career Fair Event Reports: Scheduled monthly
• Career Fair Attendance Reports: Scheduled daily
  
   

The file formats for each report are selected based on the type of data being transferred (JSON or CSV).
